Nadia and Carol

Nadia Comaneci (Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej, now Onesti) Romanian Gymnast born on November 12, 1961. She was the first Romanian to receive a score of 10 for the Olympic competition. Bela Karrolyi is the Romanian gymnastics instructor, who later became Comaneci's coach and first became aware of Comaneci when she was just six years old. Her first competition was at the national junior championships in 1969, finishing 13th. She was the winner in the year 1970. She won three golds in her very first contest in a junior pre-Olympic meeting in 1972, which was a communist bloc countries. Between 1973 and 1974, she became the junior all-round champion. In her first international competition as a senior, in 1975 she beat the Russian Lyudmila Turishcheva who was a five-time European champion, winning 4 gold and one silver medal. In 1976, she was the first person in the world who used a double backwards salto for a dismount off the parallel bars. The story of Carol Wayne to the world of entertainment began in her teens. Together with her sister Nina Wayne, she joined the traveling entertainment show that were known as Ice Capades. Carol Marie Wayne is a American citizen who was born on September 6, 1942, in Chicago, Illinois. Carol started her professional career as an entertainer when she was in her teenage years. Her first job was as a figure skater performing with her sister Nina Wayne as part of the touring entertainment show known as Ice Capades. These shows were ice skating events which included stage performances.
